Design brief

November 11, 2016

The design depicts the inspiring development of Selma’s life journey in Austria. Photos taken in the soft rocks of Cappadocia, Turkey reminded designer Kathrine Batliner of one particular image, which mirrored her story.

Cappadocia region has many cultural networks of old underground settlements that tell many stories of ancient times. The photo on the scarf depicts a tree rooted in the rocky settlement, shows its strength and endurance through the difficult living conditions it found itself in. Despite these circumstances, the tree manages to grow roots and to build a foundation.

The tree finds its place exactly on the defining blue dark line that seems to split the scenery in two. This line represents her starting point without which she would not have had the necessary support to take her entrepreneurial journey: her family, a vital part of her growth and of who she is today.

The sky is the limit for Selma, which is why the upper side of the design is open, just like a canvas that she continues to paint on and to shape the future she wants to contribute to.
